May 2012 Newsletter

Hello
Well did you miss us?It has been a few months since we last put pen to paper as it were. The weeks are flying by with no apology or concern for us who try to catch our breath. The passage of time is always most evident this month because we start to book people in for their 6 month examinations..in December! Summer has yet to arrive and we are already planning the Christmas schedule.

There will be some minor disruption in the practice during June as we convert our kitchen area into a spacious, fully equipped sterilisation room. This will free up the rather congested xray room.
I have been assured that the work will not affect the frequency or quality of the tea provided so we intend to work through the disruption, noise and mess as best we can.
Please bear with us during the next few weeks.

May is National Smile Month
Yes its that time of year again when dentistry raises its profile and reminds everyone to look after their smile (isn’t that what we dentists do every day?).
National smile month runs from 20th May to 20th June 2012.

Did you know

  1. Nearly one in ten people in the UK aren’t registered with a dentist. – We are always happy to see your friends and family.
  2. One person in 10 is unaware of the threat of mouth cancer. – We check for this during your routine examination, don’t worry.
  3. Poor dental health has been linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. – Look after your oral hygiene, if you need help ask us.
  4. Direct links have been established between bacteria in the mouth and heart attacks. – Our hygiene team Jill & Sarah are keen to help.
  5. One third of people in Britain still only brush their teeth once a day, or less. – Don’t take the risk with your health for the sake of an extra two minutes in the bathroom.
